The Ripple Effect -- Changing Context touches Others with Sema Basol, Executive Director, Turkish Women's Initiative -- March 4  from 8:00 to 9:00 AM PST (GMT -8) Register HERE

Join us on March 2, 2022, for a free online webinar to hear Sema Basol’s story -- an example of how one individual has the potential to touch the lives of countless others.

Sema is the co-founder of Turkish Women’s Initiative (TWI) in the US and founder of the Turkish organization Degisim Liderleri Dernegi (DLD--Change Leaders Association). She is featured in the newly released book, Shifting Context Leadership Springs from Within. Her chapter is entitled, Could You Make That YOUR Own Initiative?

She is among sheroes and heroes from around the world demonstrating how leadership from within brings about real change.

The co-authors of Shifting will interview Sema about her story. You will hear how her story has many “ripple effects”. As Peter Block says, “our primary task as leaders is to host conversations that embody and nurture an alternative future.”

Both of Sema’s organizations do just that. They help people to shift out of past stories into future possibilities. Participants will leave this sixty minutes understanding the ripple effect of shifting our stories as well as being amazed at the work that DLD does in Turkey. Register HERE.

More about the Sparks program

The Sparks Program in Turkey enables young university women to be change agents in their communities. The program impacts everyone involved – the management team, staff, program facilitators, volunteers, sponsors, donors, partner organizations and other community members. The social change projects the students design and execute have touched the lives of thousands – 270,00 in the 2020-21 school year alone.

A Sparks Project Example

Recently a group of nine engineering students worked virtually as a team and wrote eleven children’s stories. The subject of the stories was sustainable development such as green energy sources. The stories are now being published by a top Turkish children’s publishing house. The sale of these books will raise funds to send one book to each rural school plus support an incoming group of Sparks students next year.

Imagine the ripple effect – hundreds of young children becoming advocates for mitigating climate change through sustainable means. And, another group of students embarking on a social change project.

Linda, Barbara and Sema will be joined by the Sparks students who created this book project.
